The Epic Man is an individual pursuit, yet it would never be possible without the support of some incredible people. This year, we were fortunate to meet Steve, a lobsterman from Kittery, who offered to shuttle all of the riders across the Piscataqua River. It was the best solution to an unfortunate situation that came about when a tanker crashed into the vehicle bridge a week ago. Steve showed up with a huge boat, and welcomed all 30 of us aboard. We were treated to an amazing sunset cruise over to Portsmouth, which was a well-deserved break after 50 miles of windy and rainy riding.
We are constantly amazed by the kinds of people that we encounter through the Epic Man. Their stories are inspiring and their attitudes are incredibly positive. And while they aren’t paddling, cycling, or running, they are taking on their own epic pursuits.
